Sometimes the term 'hidden gem' can be overused, but I truly believe that The Glock is a hidden gem in Edinburgh. This unique café offers authentic Asian cakes and drinks, bringing a piece of Hong Kong right to Scotland. With much of their signage and communication not in English, the experience feels genuinely immersive, providing a true taste of Asia.
The Glock has an absolutely gorgeous selection of cakes rarely seen in Scotland, including matcha cakes, Japanese-style burnt cheesecake, and so many more! During my visit, I couldn’t resist ordering three cakes to try as many as possible. I opted for a matcha cake, brownie, and the burnt cheesecake. The moment I put the cheesecake in my mouth, I was transported back to my time in Japan.

In addition to their cakes, The Glock also offers a nice selection of teas. I was thrilled to find my favorite Oolong cha on the menu. I chose the iced version and was pleasantly surprised to find an actual oolong leaf inside! I asked if I could buy some of the leaves to take home, but unfortunately, that wasn't an option.

The interior of The Glock is so lovely with a lot of wooden furniture that adds to its calm, relaxing feeling. It’s the perfect place to unwind, take a breath, and momentarily forget about the world outside.
If you’re in Edinburgh and looking for a place to enjoy authentic Asian pastries and drinks, The Glock is definitely worth a visit.
