On the way to Pitlochry for a weekend getaway, I decided to stop at Loch Leven Larder, and it turned out to be the perfect place to take a breather. Located in the stunning landscapes of Kinross, this spot offers more than just a meal — it’s an experience that combines delicious food, beautiful views, and a lovely shopping experience.
Loch Leven Larder is located at Channel Farm, Kinross (KY13 9HD), overlooking the picturesque Loch Leven. The surrounding scenery is beautiful, with surrounding hills and fresh air that feels refreshing. There’s plenty of parking on-site, making it an easy stop whether you’re traveling solo or with family.

Walking in, I was reminded by how much it reminded me of an upmarket Dobbies. The interior is warm and inviting, with a gift section right at the entrance. From children’s toys to adorable Jellycats (I was very tempted to buy a cute little penguin), the selection is great. The space then curves around to reveal a range of deli foods, chocolates, breads, and an impressive Christmas section — the largest range of panettones I’ve ever seen! Everything looked delicious, though I’d say the prices lean towards the higher side.

I was eager to try the restaurant, which looked stunning, but I arrived at 11:30, just after breakfast service had ended and a little too early for lunch. The staff kindly informed us that we could either wait until 12 or grab something from the small café in the same building but separate from the restaurant, which was serving breakfast rolls and sweet treats. While the café looked lovely, I had my heart set on the restaurant.
We were seated around 11:50 and placed our order right at noon. The service was fantastic, with a friendly staff member directing us to our table and ensuring everything ran smoothly. By 12:15, the restaurant was completely full, so I’d recommend arriving early to get a spot.

For lunch, I chose the leek and potato soup, which came with a slice of freshly baked sourdough bread. It was just right — not too creamy, with just the right texture and flavor. My husband opted for the chicken burger, and I couldn’t help but wish that I had chosen that too!
For dessert, I enjoyed in a white chocolate and cranberry tiffin. Normally, tiffins aren’t my first choice, but this one caught my eye with its vibrant color and festive appeal. It did not disappoint — the texture was spot on, and the sweetness of the white chocolate paired beautifully with the cranberries.
The restaurant also offers outdoor seating with heating — something I missed when I arrived but would definitely consider next time. Payment is quick and easy, as you settle your bill at the till by the door on your way out.
Loch Leven Larder is a wonderful spot worth visiting, whether you’re passing through or planning a day trip. Between the delicious food, excellent service, and beautiful surroundings, it’s a place that feels both relaxing and enjoyable. Just keep in mind that it gets busy, so plan accordingly. And don’t forget to check out their farm shop for unique gifts and local treats!
Whether you’re looking for a cozy lunch spot, a place to shop for artisanal goodies, or simply a moment to pause and enjoy the scenery, Loch Leven Larder has it all. I’ll definitely be back — maybe next time I’ll even pick up that penguin Jellycat!
